If you’ve been affected by violence in a relationship, it’s important to know that it’s not your fault and it’s never acceptable. You have the right to feel safe, respected and supported in your relationships.

Who can help me in the NT?

If you are unsure about who to talk to or who can help, a good place to start is your local GP. If you live in a small town or community, your local health clinic or community service are the best places to go, as they can refer you to specialist support.

  • General Practitioner (GP) or doctor

    If you are worried about family or domestic violence you or someone you know are experiencing, you can speak with a General Practitioner (GP)  for help and advice.


    A GP can confidentially help refer you to specialist family and domestic violence servcies for direct support.

  • Remote Health Service

    If you live in a community without access to a GP clinic, you'll most likely have a health service in or near your community. This local service can support your health needs and may have Aboriginal health workers and nurses who can help you find the right support.
